How to calculate hourly earnings with tips
(Paid hours × base hourly wage + tips kept + bonuses) ÷ paid hours
Paid hours are the shift length minus unpaid breaks. For example, 8 hours minus a 30-minute break gives 7.5 paid hours. At 5 per hour plus 120 in tips, that is 157.50 for the shift, or 21.00 per paid hour. Use the same currency for every amount.
Should I include paid breaks?
Only subtract unpaid breaks. Leave paid breaks within the shift length so that the base-wage calculation includes them.
Is this my take-home pay?
It is your recorded earnings before tax and expenses. It does not estimate tax, benefits, overtime premiums or other payroll adjustments.
How can I compare several shifts?
